A Shot for a bride to be…
A shot for a bride to be
A naked flame or asking
To see undergarments.
A bartender offering a curdle-drink
A lesson in decisiveness.
I know all these people.
Sir, I know what your
Tartan skirt is for;
A kilt to woo.
A drink to stay the night and
Worry all your friends.
Tonic that makes your heart fall out
And turns you old.
Or turns you to an Ood.
Drowning live on land
On television too -
The televisuals and presenters doing wrong
Laughing when they're not supposed to
Making blistering eye contact
Revealing all this truth
I see; I know
It's waiting
It's in a pouch forgotten
It's the noise
Pleasure palace
Long long fingernails on someone's shoulder
Blending.
Smashing, the sweet boat crashed down
Over the waterfall.
A child dies in the muck on someone's birthday
In the west.
The child of an MP clicks her boots across the hall.
On cue we turn our heads,
Glance-meet.
Maybe love’s not dead,
Maybe coffee is the thing.
Or maybe shots tonight?
